Hemp Series
The Hemp Series is our line of products made from durable and renewable industrial hemp canvas. Grown without the use of fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides, hemp is an environmentally friendly fiber that offers great advantages over cotton and petroleum-based fabrics. Hemp fiber is longer, stronger, more absorbent and more insulative than cotton fiber. Hemp requires minimal water usage to produce and has excellent natural fiber qualities that make it ideal for bag construction. These qualities include very high tensile strength, fire retardancy, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, and resistance to mildew.
Green Guru Gear is proud to bring a renewable resource line of messenger bags to the market. It also happens to be our most expensive line. Why? The U.S. still adheres to a ‘zero tolerance’ rule for anything containing any amount of a controlled substance. Fact: industrial hemp has trace amounts of THC, which is a Schedule 1 drug. ‘Trace amounts’ means so insignificant, one could never absorb THC from hemp fabric. While it remains illegal to farm this high yield resource domestically, we have to pay to ship it from other far-away countries.
